I, along with the other international students at TRU, had to face the epidemic head-on, but we all did it in our ways. Despite everything, I felt a deep empathy for the unseen hardships of people around me amid the chaos. I felt an overwhelming sense of empathy and unity as I listened to their stories of quiet resolve, resiliency, and persistence. Motivated by a strong desire to bring attention to their unseen struggles, I set out on a mission to elevate their voices and expose the world to what they have been through.
Through open-ended conversations and shared instances of vulnerability, international students exposed the unsaid realities and raw emotions that define the pandemic experience to me. Each narrative vividly depicted overcoming adversity, whether it was the crushing weight of financial insecurity or the strangling grasp of social anxiety. Despite everything, a thread of unfaltering tenacity and an unbreakable spirit appeared in the fabric of adversity, an embodiment to the immense human ability for optimism and perseverance.
